Francisca Moya Alcañiz gained a Doctorate in Geography and History from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) . In her doctoral thesis Republicanas condenadas a muerte: analogías y diferencias territoriales y de género(1936-1945) (2016) she analysed the cases of women who were condemned to death and whose sentences were commuted to the lesser sentence of thirty years imprisonment and whose cases were subsequently revised by the Comisiones Provinciales de Examen de Penas (CPEP) and the Comisión Central de Examen de Penas (CCEP), both of which were dependencies of the Ministerio del Ejército. Her research is centred on the Francoist Repression, particularly in relation to women and on the history of the labour movement.
